HOW TO GAIN AN EXTRA DAY AND A HALF OF HOLIDAY IN 2017/18 ( 15 June 2017 )

When it comes to holiday habits ABTA research* shows that now, more than ever, holidaymakers are choosing multi city break holidays (53% to be exact). Taking this into account the clever people at CLIA have worked out that by choosing cruise for multi-centre breaks you can actually GAIN holiday time by alleviating all the surplus packing, checking in and out, transferring, queueing and waiting at airports between stops. 6 hours of savings (per destination) to be exact. So on a 6 stop cruise you are gaining in excess of 36 hours additional leisure time. To put those numbers into perspective… one could spend those 36 hours:
Relaxing with 25 full body massages
Playing 162 holes of golf… nine full rounds
Watching 14 outdoor movie screenings under the stars
Enjoying six Broadway shows
Taking 18 siestas
Spending 2160 minutes toping up their tan
To break it down - the ‘per destination’ saving is calculated as follows: 90 minutes saved not packing up a suitcase and checking out of your previous hotel, 45 minutes saved not traveling to the next local airport, 120 minutes saved dodging airport arrival, check in, security and boarding, 60 minutes gained skipping passport control and luggage reclaim on the other side and a final 45 minutes recouped not having to worry about your transfer to your new hotel and another check in process. Andy Harmer, SVP Membership & Director, CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) UK & Ireland commented:
“We all know that the process of travelling to and from our holiday destination can be long and stressful and with more of us than ever choosing to take several city breaks each year unfortunately we have to go through this multiple times. A cruise holiday can provide the perfect solution to this with many itineraries calling at a number of different destinations in just one sailing without the hassle of having to get to and from the airport and pack and unpack each time. As well as being able to visit an incredible range of locations in one getaway, by saving a day and a half in travel and packing time, Brits choosing to cruise can
really make the most of their precious annual leave by spending more time with loved ones, exploring the destination or simply enjoying a drink by the pool.”

TESTIMONIAL

The Times’ fashion department has worked with Hills Balfour on several occasions. They are one of the few travel PR specialists that approach us with creative and innovative ideas for features, news and fashion shoots. I’m  impressed by how their reach extends beyond travel journalism and I’d be more than happy to recommend them to any of my colleagues and  look forward to working with them more in the future.
