Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) UK and Ireland team had the pleasure of hosting 14 top travel agents and four key media in Kenya on a mega fam trip in April 2015.
In order for the three groups to experience the diverse range of landscapes and experiences Kenya has to offer tourists, the mega fam trip comprised of three different itineraries visiting 25 properties in eight locations across Kenya. Each programme was tailored to highlight the range of properties on offer in Kenya in order to either develop agents’ product knowledge and in the case of the media group, to demonstrate the high standard and range of accommodation on offer to holidaymakers.
Each group experienced their own tailored version of the classic ‘Bush and Beach’ itinerary beginning with action-packed safaris in the Maasai Mara, Laikipia, Kigio and Samburu regions and ending in a relaxing stay on the coast in Diani.
Senior Account Executive Sophie Holloway hosted Trade Group One on a luxury itinerary which included representatives from Abercrombie & Kent, Six Star Holidays, Kuoni, Sunset Faraway Holidays, Expert Africa , Somak and Steppes Travel.
All three groups began their visit in Kenya’s vibrant capital city Nairobi before catching internal flights to different regions.
Trade group Two stayed at Porini Lion Camp and Sarova Mara in the Maasai Mara first before heading north to continue their safari in the Samburu National Reserve at Samburu Intrepids and Ashnil Samburu.
After a busy four days on safari the groups travelled to Diani Beach on Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast where they were hosted by Alfajiri Villas, Kinondu Kwetu, Msambweni Beach House, Baobab Beach Resort and Spa and Saruni Ocean. The groups’ final evening in Kenya was spent at Baobab Beach Resort for a cocktail reception where they were joined by colleagues from Head office in Nairobi, local tourism representatives and Kenyan media.
