Dubai Business Events – The Official Convention Bureau (DBE), recently invited 72 meeting planners and 17 business events journalists from across Europe to discover first-hand what Dubai has to offer for meetings, incentives, conferences, and corporate events. The trip was part of DBEs ongoing strategy to enhance the city’s global status as a premier destination for international business events.

Delegates attending the trip included those from the UK, Ireland, France, Benelux, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Turkey and Croatia. The attendees were split into three groups based on their geographical market; the Gazelle group lead by Maris Kuklis from Hills Balfour, the Camel group lead by Michelle Pinheiro from DBE HQ, and the Falcon group lead by Sujata Luchmun from Hills Balfour and Tarik Zeryouh from DBE HQ.

For the duration of the three day visit, the groups had the opportunity to visit popular attractions in Dubai such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai souks, Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, and the Dubai World Trade Centre. Guests were also joined by the motivational speaker, Jonathan Bradshaw from the Meetology Group, who kicked off the visit with an interactive session using psychological exercises, designed to provide a boost to attendees and equip them with the tools to interact successfully for the duration of their stay.
Other activities included taking an aerial tour of the city with Seawings, participating in a treasure hunt around The Dubai Mall, playing camel polo at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club and interacting with dolphins at The Atlantis, The Palm. The groups also benefitted from viewing and experiencing various Dubai hotel properties such as the Al Manzil, Burj Al Arab, Conrad, Grand Hyatt, Madinat Jumeirah, the Palace Downtown, and the Vida Downtown.

Overall, the Discover Dubai study mission was a success following excellent feedback. DBE’s continuous efforts of promoting the city as a must-see destination is well and truly being executed with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of business events hosted in the city every year.
