WTTC launches Together in Travel
Travel and Tourism supports 1 in 10 jobs across the globe, a powerful community of people providing the foundations to one of the world’s most important industries, contributes 10.5% GDP to the global economy. As a result of the unprecedented challenges brought about by COVID-19, more than 75 million jobs could be at risk (Oxford Economics, March 2020).
At this time of uncertainty, there is a real need for the global travel and tourism community to unify in a global movement of solidarity.
With this in mind, we have developed a major campaign called #TogetherInTravel, which launched on Monday, 20th April 2020.
The campaign consisted of three key elements; a highly visual and emotive video, a hashtag #togetherintravel to stimulate conversation across social platforms and a microsite where you can view the video at www.togetherintravel.com
The goal surrounding #TogetherInTravel was simple, with complete sensitivity to the current situation, and that health is paramount, yet at the same time, how can we play our part and create something that supports and uplifts our incredible industry and the wonderful community within it. Something that shows how much support there is for travelling in all shapes and sizes. Be it staycations to around the world trips, travel has given us, and will continue to give us, so many stories that will help us connect, or even reconnect, with each other while we’re at home – amazing anecdotes which help us reminisce with family members to friends and provide little pockets of joy and escapism at a time when they’re greatly needed.
Travel is such an important part of our zest for life and the thought of future travel provides a huge amount of comfort, excitement and hope, and what better way to expand our bucket lists and sustain our wanderlust than to hear from others’ experiences.
We were delighted to be working with The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) on this campaign as they are the global authority in Travel & Tourism who represent the private sector and destinations, across all corners of the world.
Everyone who has worked on the campaign has worked on this in their own time, so it truly is a passion project.
